Happy New Year
Our ‘E-day’ countdown has begun and we are gearing up to receive offers of help for election day, Saturday 17th March.
If you have not already come forward with an offer, perhaps it’s because you’re not sure what you can do. Please feel free to give me a call so we can discuss your involvement.
The main role for the majority of Dignity Party supporters on election day will be as polling booth volunteers, handing out how-to-vote cards to voters. We are proud that with our limited resources, we are implementing an evidence based campaign. We will not be asking our volunteers to go and put up plastic corflute signs on Stobie poles, because there’s no evidence it will increase the Dignity Party vote!
We do, however, need you to send your details (name, address, phone number and whether you want to volunteer on a local polling booth or if you can travel further afield on election day – if so how far, e.g. travel up to 50km) in to our office, the Dignity Party Campaign Hive: firstname.lastname@example.org so we can organise all the helpers for election day. Evidence shows that if we can get good volunteer coverage of all metropolitan polling booths as well as regional centres this will increase Kelly Vincent’s vote in the upper house.
When you think about it, you need to go and vote on polling day anyway, it’s a great opportunity to meet and catch up with your neighbours, so why not vote and then volunteer for a few hours as well! If you’re too busy to offer the full day (booths open from 8am – 6pm) then dob in a family member, colleague or friend!
It’s going to be especially useful for Dignity Party to have some Booth Captains who will take on the organising of all volunteers at one or more polling booths in their area. If we can get enough support we hope to also have some cruising refreshment patrols, going from polling booth to polling booth, giving all the volunteers a morale boost and a drink and snack to keep them going. But that’s luxury stuff at this stage, we are starting with covering the largest polling booths in each electorate during the busiest times of election day (9 am – 12noon and 2pm – 5pm) and working out from there.
If you’ve never handed out on a polling booth before, please don’t stress because Dignity Party have you covered with some fun and informative training sessions! The next one is Saturday 20th January, 2pm – 4pm at Dignity Party Campaign Hive.
Of course a well-resourced campaign does need financial backing, and your donations are greatly appreciated. If you are not available on election day, but want to see Kelly Vincent re-elected, then chipping in to help with a donation is an effective way of supporting Dignity Party.
P.S All campaign helpers and donors are warmly invited to our Election Night Party, Saturday 17th March, 6.30pm – 11pm at Restless Dance, 195 Gilles Street Adelaide.

It’s not going to work to just wish or hope that Kelly Vincent will be re-elected … will you get involved to make sure she is?
Q: Okay, I want Kelly re-elected what can I do to get involved?
Regular readers of this bulletin will know that we put out the call for donations on a regular basis. Dignity Party need the cash resources to help us raise the vote on Election Day. The breadth of work Kelly Vincent has undertaken, since she was elected as Australia’s youngest MP in 2010, is enormous. Visit Kelly’s website to discover for yourself!
Through the work of key Dignity Party volunteers supported by donations large and small from generous donors, we have positioned Dignity Party as a strong alternative political voice in SA. Dignity Party rely on donations because we do not have the benefit of millions of dollars that the old political parties can draw on at election time.
We fundraise and make sure we spend our money wisely. In the lead up to the 17th March we want to create a strong, multi-platform media campaign to make sure voters know about the Dignity Party, Kelly Vincent, our local candidates and the push for a fair and just South Australia.
Kelly Vincent is the voice of compassion, fairness and human rights in our parliament and we don’t want to imagine a future without her there. If you can volunteer to hand out how-to-vote cards on Election Day, Kelly Vincent’s vote will increase. As well as giving Dignity Party your number 1 vote in the upper house, Kelly needs you to pitch in and help out on the day. (It’s actually quite good fun).
If you will stand with over 22 other candidates for election, Kelly Vincent’s vote will increase. If you can support Dignity Party through donations, or purchase t-shirts and merchandise you will be part of the Dignity Party team backing Kelly Vincent (and looking good in purple!).
As well as getting along to our next fundraiser and film nights, you can host your own fundraiser, a dinner/BBQ etc. You can suggest family and friends support Dignity Party. Your business may be able to donate goods or services that will help us dress/ feed and train our volunteers before, during and after Election Day. (Our election night party and a thank you bbq in late March will require venue and catering, for instance).
How about it, will you help re-elect Kelly Vincent?
Donations are tax deductible (up to $1,500 p.a.)
